Why we should ditch religion

This video ... You know what I think the way I feel about this video has already been said.

Here never actually made an argument of why we should get rid of religion. He simply stated a few widely known facts about Islam, Jesus, and Gay Marriage.

Hell, we're already starting to ditch freedom, let us not ditch another part of what America was founded on.

So true.... I could not have stated it better.

I Love the fact that in the U.S. that man had the right to say what he did. I also love the fact that I can completely disagree, and say that he is a complete whack job.

i kinda agree with what madanchi said. I feel like some of the stuff the guy said is true....like wasting time on debating gay marriage rather than more pressing matters

I don't think I can completely ignore his side of the argument.

I can.

I'm not pissy about the forum post. I will however stop now. I have had enough political socialism shoved down my throat lately. I just don't like people such as Mr. Sam Harris spouting BS about something that does matter to me and most of the people I know, without voicing my opinion.

So then, who gets to decide what issues are "important"? The same d-bags who are telling us that we make every decision and argument based on what we think God wants?

I'd like to punch this f-er in the face. I'm so sick of people trying to impose their views of "right" and "wrong" and "more import" or "less important". Hell, while we're at it, let's just kill the sick, the poor, the homeless--shoot, might as well just wipe out 3rd world countries. I mean, they are too busy just trying to survive that they can't pay attention to these IMPORTANT PRESSING ISSUES like nuclear warfare.

What a bunch of steaming BS.

Truly I could care less of what religion you are as long as man has a common respect for one another. As far as everyone one ditching their own believes for the gain of someone else I am in no way for that. As an Atheist I do tons of garbage aimed at me but still its just common respect for one another religion.

like wasting time on debating gay marriage rather than more pressing matters
...to be honest, I fail to see how making a video telling people to stop debating gay marriage (amongst other things) is a more pressing and urgent task!

Watch Religulous and laugh at the host. Then watch Jesus Camp and freak out at what those people really really do. Most religious people aren't bad. Its the extremists that are screwing it up for them all.

Exactly, Rubber...exactly. We talk about this almost daily in my Christianity class. It's not every Christian that ruining it for the whole. It's those freaking idiots who CLAIM to be Christians and then go off and do stupid sh*t.

Also, I love how he uses statistics WAY out of context. Like the sexual offenses and 90% of them being made by Christians, or what not. Does he not realize that MOST of the world is NOT atheist? DUH! Of course the majority of crime is by religious people (forgot what he said and I ain't watching again/reading again). I'm sick of people who AREN'T Christian judging us with our own standards when they just aren't true. People that aren't Christian don't understand that it's not about perfection, it's about forgiveness when you do sin. I've had so many people through my mistakes in my face and say "hahaha you ain't no Christian!!". F-ing BS. It'd be nice if there was a little respect.

First off that video is based on opinion...

it is...but I believe some of the points he makes. Don't simply ignore a message because it's just one person's opinion.

I feel like a lot of people here are adamant against everything and anything that those people say. I could simply say that religion is bullshit and that it is simply something man kind has created as an answer for the unexplainable, but I don't.

I have managed to take a positive view on both sides.

Opinions and beliefs are very powerful things.

The "Philosopher" Sam Harris should worry about more pressing issues "like nuclear proliferation and genocide and poverty and the crisis in education" then about the differences in religion.
