Computer freezing on XP Home Edition Set Up page

I tried that atomic rooster, then I tried fail-safe defaults just for the heck of it. Nothing seems to work. Any other ideas? How would I go about UPDATING the dmi? maybe just doing what it tells me is a good idea?

Try clearing the cmos and the load bios back to defaults

Sadly that didn't work. I've researched and it seems this problem usually doesn't hinder the user into getting into windows. But for some reason with me, it gets stuck on that screen.

Probably not, I don't have the cd the motherboard came with.. Am I screwed?

Hey when I go into bios and into Standard CMOS features, I see IDE Channel 0 Master and when I click on it, it says that it has zero capacity, and my harddrive is IDE channel 1 Master. Is the IDE channel 0 my cd drive?

probably check the ribbon cable it will say which channel is which
