In need of a new processor

Recently I started being more avid with my computer gaming since the purchase of a new graphics card. Now this isn't the problem. My old processor is lagging behind the rest of my equipment preventing me from playing a great many of the things I bought this card for. So if you could point me in the direction of a cost effective processor that would be great. My system specs are as follow

OS. Windows Vista Home Basic
Motherboard. Intel Corporation D945GCCRG1
Processor. Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
Memory. 2048 MB two slots

Well, the best CPU you can get is a pentium D, unless you want to upgrade the mobo. A pentium D will be a slight bottleneck for your HD 4850, but nothing too serious.

EDIT: Wooo I am really tired from not sleeping in three days. You can use a core 2 duo with that board. What is your budget?

I was thinking spending 100-150 bucks I just wanted to get some real performance out of my card since i already dropped 100 on it.

The E8300 would be a good choice.

I am sure someone will come in with some better deals though, but that is not a bad price for it.

EDIT: Dammit the fsb is 1333. wtf? I will look to see if there is a BIOS flash for this mobo so it can support it.

OP, ignore this. The Phenom 9600 is incompatible.
