Random Chit Chat

Don't really have a budget. Just want to upgrade without spending much. If I were to upgrade the CPU, then I would probably get one around April. If I were to get the mobo, CPU, and RAM, then I'll probably get them early fall to early winter.
It seems like the Q8200 from Micro is cheaper than the Q6600 from the sites I look at. I like to keep my parts ~$100 and below unless it's not really possible.

Get the Q8200. For $130, that is really your best bet.

I will look around and see if I can find a better deal though.

EDIT: DAMN!!! intel CPUs are expensive.

I thought 775 sockets aren't worth it anymore, or so I have been told. However, it seems like this is the best route I can take. Hopefully my board doesn't die out, but Tigerdirect does have some decent 775 boards, just hope they don't sold out.

Anyways, I got the prices wrong. The Q8200 is $119.99, Q9300 is $139.99, and the Q9550 is $179.99. Micro Center said they have the lowest CPU prices, and they would also price match, even from sites like newegg. Which is nice.

EDIT: DAMN!!! intel CPUs are expensive.

Yeah, however, back then, I got my E7200 for $100, and the only one that came close to it in performance in similar price was the X2 6000+, and that was like $120. That's why I went with Intel.

EDIT - Somebody here wanted to buy my E7200, I forgot who though. Not sure if the person is interested in it anymore.

Get the Q9300 then.
