Ive been trying to install Ubuntu with no luck.

Does something fail during setup or after ubuntu is up and running?
I installed it through wubi on my laptop so it can be removed through windows if I ever wanted it gone.

I've burned like 4 to 6 CD's. I've attenpted to dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows 7. When I boot up with the disk inserted, I get a kernal panic error message.

I totally bypass the bootloader because it makes things more complicated especially if I decide to get rid of an OS. So I don't use one.

I have 2 hard drives. One for Windows whatever. One for Linux whatever. When I install Linux, I unplug my Windows drive. I use drive select as my boot loader.

Yeah try wubi it actually installs from within windows and sets up a dualboot for you. Does not work with 10.04 atm but when 10.04 is finalized it will

First... how can I get my icons on the bottom of the screen like ~Darkseeker~'s desktop?

It looks like Mac OSX but it isn't...

objectdock there are many programs that do it as well but thats the main one I know of
