Well, there was recently some interest in Random Chit Chat, so I am making a simple guide to FoFiX.

Basically, it is an epically modified fretsonfire. It also has support for drums, bass, vocals, and multiplayer support up to four players. Yes, other players can be playing different instruments, and at different difficulties.

All right, now here is where you can get the themes.http://www.fretsonfire.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=24976&hilit=fofix+themes You will have to register to see it, but trust me it's worth it. Choose the one that you like the most.

You have a lot of options when it comes to songs. The first one is to download community made songs. There are tons of them here http://fretsonfire.wikidot.com/custom-songs (glad you registered on the last step huh?)
The second option is to rip the songs off your Guitar Hero discs. This only Works on some of the PS2 ones, and tbh, IDK which. There is a tool to do it in the installation folder.
The third option: Make them. You can make your own songs, then replay them.
There are also some torrents floating around that contain rips from some of the Guitar Hero games, and Rock Band.
Be sure to put all your songs in their own directory, and keep them organized in folders, or else your menu will get pretty crazy.

Controllers: You have a few options here. The first one is simple, your keyboard. Use F11-15 as the frets, and tab to strum, or F1-5 and the enter on the numpad. It's up to you.

For guitars, you can use and 360 wired controller, or a PS2 wired or wireless controller with an adapter (find it on eBay) but on the PS2 one, your strum will not work. You can also use a Wii guitar and a wiimote + a usb bluetooth dongle. This is only confirmed to work on linux though.

For drums, I have only tested the 360 Rock Band drums, but they work flawlessly.

The only mic I have tried is the 360 rock band one. Mic support is still not the greatest at this point, but it does work.

PM me and I can hook you up with some extra stuff.

I think using keyboard is hard, it's not as fun as an actual guitar controller.
