Oh noes! My Prius is outta control!!11

Oh I know that, but it'd take an awfully long time.

A manual car anyway, would slow down a lot quicker if set to lower gears.

No doubt about it. Even an automatic would if you would just shift it into 3, 2, and then 1 "manually".

There is a nuetral on prius's, to put it in nuetral, you need to hold the electric shifter in the nuetral position for a couple seconds. There is also this:

Lots of articles and videos on it. I personally call BS on his story. I fail to believe that it actually happened
Chris
The only part I find hard to believe is that a Prius went over 90mph. They must have some damn steep hills out there, lmao.

Oh, Prius doesn't have a transmission. Has a form of a Constantly Varriable tranny with a set gear.

In the event of accelerator malfunction follow this procedure
1 push brakes if that fails to stop
2 put car in neutral and hope to coast to a stop if that fails
3 turn key off and if that fails
4 tuck into a fetal position unbuckle open door and roll out

there you have it

Pushing the breaks with the accelerator stuck is only going to burn your brakes up.

You put the car in neutral then push the brakes to come to a stop. Anybody that can't figure this out is an idiot plain and simple.

well there must be a lot of idiots out there lol since there have been numerous deaths due to the accelerator problems.

I heard the guy was afraid to try to shift it into neutral because he was afraid he'd accidentally put it in park and ruin the transmission. So what?....it's under warranty....get them to put a new transmission in, done deal.

At least if it smashes the tranny all to hell it'll be out of gear and you can stop it with the brakes.

Brilliant video!

Shut your damn car off! Seriously. It's NOT hard to steer without power steering. Plus, at that rate of speed, the speed would provide the "power steering" so-to-speak. I used to drive my Grandpa's old Mazda truck that didn't have power steering and was a manual on top of it. It's not a big deal. I get sick of all these people bitching saying "zomg don't everz turnz your car off cuz you can't steerzzzzz oh noessss". It's ridiculous.

If you take the key out, then the steering wheel locks - It's hard to steer then ;)
