I wouldn't get her anything. I made that mistake once on a date and I'm sure it freaked her out a little. It was valentine's day 2 years ago.

Personally, I wouldn't bring anything on a first date. Yourself would be pretty much all you'd need.
Oh, and cash helps too, but always offer to split. Never ever simply pay for her. Especially before you get to know each other. It gives off the wrong signals.

But in all seriousness.. Unless she knows how long you have liked her and she is okay with it. Then DO NOT get her anything.
Buy her dinner, the movie or what ever activity, be yourself, and nothing more.

Don't make a move, don't boast your ego, don't be extremely goo goo over her.

Basically, do not smother her.

If you get a second date, THEN you buy her flowers.

Third date, chocolate. <- Make move here.

Fifth date, Card and flowers.
