I have a HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7557c

I have a Motherboard Name: A8M2N-LA will it accept a sata II hard drive? right now i have one (a sata II hard drive) connected but it works fine sometimes and some other times it freezes
so is it freezing because it can't take it? or if it couldn't take it at all it just wouldn't be working and something else is going on... ( i have just done a full formating with the right drivers)
