I've done this before not sure why it won't work this time. I just wanted to share internet, files, and a printer.
I guess I'll call the pc with the internet connection pc #1 and the other #2.
Pc #1 is using att dsl internet and XP with SP3
Pc #2 is a relatively new install of XP with SP1
1st of all I just wanted to reassure you that the drivers are installed for both of the pci cards and I am using a cross over cable to connect them. Their are no problems with any of them in the device managers. So all I should have to do is run the network wizard which I've done. I made the floppy and ran it on both pc's. Pc #1 seems to be working fine. But when I go to the properties for the adapter on pc #2. On the support tab, when I click repair it says:
The following steps of the repair operation failed:
Renewing the ip address
I've done a few other things that I didn't mention here and I know these can be difficult issues. But If someone out there sees this and it looks familiar maybe let me know.
Thanks
I called D-Link tech support and they really weren't much help. She told me it sounded like a Printer and file sharing issue. And she gave me a Ref. #.
