Going to overclock my i7, Which aftermarket heatsink to buy!?!?!

Most fans use a fan controller though, and aren't thermal controlled. At least, my Tuniq Tower on my brothers isn't, and neither is my 9700.

I just have the fan set to low, and leave it at that.

I have set my fan on full for the minute though, and Core Temp reads my Q6600 to be running at around 42 degrees C on each core.
Only a difference of 2 degrees C when set from high to low after 10 minutes

this review actually had a different Noctua model number, but to quote the article...

"the Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler is the winner in our testing. Either in its original single fan configuration or in its new SE1366 dual fan configuration it led the pack and did it quietly. With a little Googling the NH-U12P SE1366 can be found for as little as $63 +shipping."

I love the heatsinks that can do the push/pull fan configuration, my Kingwin can't unless I use zip ties, the Tuniq wasn't included, but it's main competitor the TRUE was...

Hi all, im looking at overclocking my i7 860 soon just to get some extra performance out of it for upcoming games i will be playing. I need to buy a new heatsink for it but im not sure which ones are the well known good ones on the market these days. Price is not much of an issue but looking at less than 100$ for one. If anyone has any ideas as to which ones are good ones out there feel free to post! i dont think ill have to worry about room as i have the cooler master haf 932 case and plenty of room.

Heres the deal man,

The comments on top are all good/decent suggestions, but they are not the best.

If you want the best then get this.

^^ this is the one I have. (in terms of performance I think the 1st link and the 2nd are the same just the color is different) I did lots of reserach b4 getting a cooler for me, because I wanted to have the best and this is it! I'm running i7 920 from 2.6Ghz Overclocked to 4.0ghz with 36c idle and about 46c load.

It has a very slick transformer like looking design. Someone mensioned the Cooler Master V8 cooler, and the prolimatech will outperform the V8 by as much as 10c! Here is one of many reviews thet you can find on Google. http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.p...sk=view&id=316&Itemid=62&limit=1&limitstart=7

Hope this helps.

This is the website you can use to order from. I used them and they did a good job for me.
