I have a new Dell Inspiron laptop and am only receiving 3 bars next to my router. I also have a Sony that always gets 5 bars. Is this a problem with Dell? What to do?

Wireless card could not be as good, 3 bars isn't that bad to use.

I bought a usb booster but it didn't do any good. Do you know of any that work?

What exactly is this USB booster you speak of?

Edit: You also might want to change the channel your router is broadcasting on to something else. Preferably 1, 6, and 11. Another network might be interfering with yours. Log into your router by going to http://192.168.1.1

If that doesn't help, you might want to get one of these how power adapters. http://www.data-alliance.net/-strse-WiFi-CARDS--fdsh--USB/Categories.bok Assuming it is legal where you are ;)

Below is the wireless gear that I got.

It is supposed to enhance the signal. Plugs into usb port. When at work with the Sony I can pick up 3 bars from a hotel across the street. The Dell gets one or none with or without the "booster".
