can a laptop hard drive function in a desktop or does a desktop supply to much power. The hard drive is sata and i know laptop drives are smaller i just want to retrieve data

It will work just fine in a desktop. I currently have a SATA laptop hard drive in my desktop since my laptop doesn't have a power adapter right now.

k, i reformatted the laptop and now it works but the diagnostics test said there were failures on the hard drive could this be temporary
