Windows 7 install

I'm currently running windows vista 64.

I bought a new HDD and a copy of windows 7 hp 64 for system builders.
just a few questions:

I know I'm just going to boot from dvd and install my windows 7 on my new HDD. Once that is done I will have to re-download all of my drivers for the MOBO video card ect.

I have since flashed and updated the BIOS on my mobo, will this affect anything while installing the new windows? The BIOS is run from the on-board memory of the MOBO and not affected by the OS correct?

How would I go about Uninstalling Vista on the old HDD? I'm giving it to a friend of mine. By uninstalling Vista, I will only be removing the OS and not removing any of the Data (my music pics ect.) correct?

What would be the quickest way to get all my programs reinstalled to Windows 7? I want to save time but I don't want to pay for software to transfer everything since I'm only going to use the program one time.

Ah yes, everything is backed up on a USB drive.

I don't think this will do an upgrade. It's the system builders version. Plus I want the clean install.

thanks for the reply

The Vista OEM one did an upgrade IIRC.

I would just back everything you need up and format/install.

Then just install all your programs off the DVD's.
