You sure its fried?
You know the little chip near the slot bracket? I put thermal paste there. Problem is that the stock heatsink sits a little higher than the chip itself and requires a thermal pad for cooling. I tested it in two computers, crashes at the Windows loading screen and goes into a reboot cycle.

I don't know if I need a 9600 GSO for physX. Most people seem to be running it on 9500s and 9400s. Maybe I'll test that when I review the cards.
Might be able to save yourself some cash.
