Re installing XP because WIN 7 trial has ended.

Hi all. Well my trial of windows 7 has just about ended, so I'll be doing a clean install of my older copy of windows XP.

So, I have two HDD in the tower. Can I copy and backup all data to one harddrive. Take it out of the case, then reformat and reinstall xp on the other hdd.

Then put the backup hdd back in and (I'm sure it will not work straight away??) then transfer files over to the clean hdd.

Then I'd have to reformat the 2nd hdd to get it to work in xp?

As far as I know, that plan should work out no problem. I would do it the same way.

The 2nd harddrive should be recognized without reformatting. You will see.

Sounds good so far guys,

The reason I ask is becasue in another thread I had two laptops and
one had a dud HDD. I took the one HDD from the first laptop and put
it in the other laptop and it would not start even though they both had xp.

So the next question is:

I have 2 hdd in the desktop computer one new one old.

The new hard drive is a samsung F3 1tb dirve, apparently pretty fast.
The one with the OS is much slower than this one, 320gb.

For maximum performance using xp 32bit. Should I copy all the backup info
to the slower HDD. Then use the new samsung F3 drive to do a clean install
on. And use the smaller 320gb HDD as a spare drive?

And with xp don't they say to move a page file or somthing over to a second
drive if available for better performance?

(or should I get a SSD for the OS, lol. I wish I had the spare cash)
