Hi, my previous External HD crashed and I lost all of the data associated with it. I own an entertainment company and have a lot of videos, music, and images stored to my PC. Well, at least I used to.. Anyways, I purchased a Western Digital 1TB external HD but heard it wasn't that great. Money isn't too big of an issue for me when it comes to the external drive. I want something I can really rely on. I already thought about online backup but it would take way too long with all the videos I have. Can anyone suggest a solution for me? Thank You.

I RAID 1, and have had 1 hard drive fail so far with no damage to any of my data. Another one is also showing signs of going now...
I don't trust hard drives at all.

1 hard drive in about 3 years or less, and 2 hard drives (if this one is going) in less than 5

This is what I got for myself and my brother few month ago. Works great!

The dock has:

Internal Interface SATA
External Interface USB & eSATA

just plug HDD in and go.

This is the HDD that I would suggest you take.

This is a very solid 1 TB HDD from WD. Has 2089 reviews that you can take a look at.

In my opinon this is a great combination for you that will last a long time.

If you want something cheaper I suggest just brows for a different HDD, but definitely take the dock, its great!

Whatever you end up going with, get two at least. On a long enough timeline, all hard drives will fail. They have moving parts and produce heat, end of story.

If I were to get 2 HD's is there a program I could use so that the data on 1 HD will automatically be updated on another?
