help building my first computer

When mine was just a dual core, idle temps were in the upper 40s. Hm, something was goin on there. Still, it does help CPU longevity if temps are cooler no?

I did not. I was set on upgrading the heatsink anyway. I know odds are that's why...but still, I'm happy with the upgrade

ya,i was thinking about getting a cooler also, ive been doing research on the 955 and 965 for the past week and a lot of people are having a lot of heat on their chips. some people arent but a lot are.

so im leaning towards the 955 now, and for coolers you suggest
"Cooler Master V8, Zalman CNPS 9900, or a Xigmatek" ?

edit: someone told me getting a cooler for the cpu will void the amd warranty.

That's a place to find the true 120.

I seriously don't know where you're getting this, "V8 owns zalman" from. The fact that it has 5 more heat pipes and weighs 200 grams more and just barely gets lower temps, I'm talking about 3 degrees cooler from personal use, doesn't mean ownage. It means bulky, overweight, overcomplicated. Zalman is lighter, all copper, and has more airflow. Also slightly smaller, not by much though. They're on the same page in my book.
