DVI or VGA cables?

I'm putting in a new video card and need to know which cable is better for graphics?
DVI or VGA?

I have no idea. Aren't they the same thing? Will a VGA cable fit in a DVI slot?

DVI will give you better video quality if your monitor supports it.

If its Digital DVI (DVI-D) then the picture will be much better. If its analog (DVI-A) the picture will make very little difference, so use them if you have them, but don't go spend $30 on cables.

I much prefer DVI, but VGA works, albeit at a lower quality.

The card comes with one of the adapters.

I noticed a big increase in quality when I switched to DVI on my monitor; it was more crisp and clear.

HDMI looks even better. I have DVI on two of mine and HDMI on one, and the HDMI one has better colors and is more crisp.

Something is wrong with your monitor then.

HDMI and DVI transmit the same digital signal. I doubt you're seeing a better picture with either connection.
