I just got a mini vga to vga cable from the apple store so I can use my G4 iBook on one of my 1920x1200 screens....anyway, it will only mirror the 1024x768 image off the laptop lcd. How do I enable multi monitors on this thing? It works on my powerbook.

EDIT: Firmware hack ftw! http://www.rutemoeller.com/mp/ibook/ibook_e.html It lets me do 1920x1200 AND 1024x768 simultaneously. Not bad for an old pos laptop with a 9200 mobility.

i was gonna say you cant do it on the old powerbooks if they're running stock, but you found that out anyway. i think you can do it on the G4 desktops if you upgrade the GPU to support dual-monitors, but other than that i think the hack is the only way to do it.

Tiger isnt the best OS for this kinda stuff.

i use a 14" apple monitor. like this one

and when i tried to use a VGA monitor in cooperation with it, i got what you just described lol.

Yeah... idk why apple disabled it. It is a feature of the GPU, but apple just said 'no' and disabled it in the firmware. Kind of a bad business decision IMO.

IDK its apple....
