I Bought My First Motherboard!!! :d

thats good. modular too...

you realize it'll be $90 right away, then $60 assuming you actually get the rebate. (I never do...)

EDIT: I see you don't have a GPU listed. Please tell me you don't plan on using onboard video...

Is thermaltake a good brand? Oh, and what's wrong with the onboard gpu?

no, thermaltake PSU's are awful. Their cases are good though.

Onboard is horrible if you attempt to do anything but the lightese gaming. I'd spend a few bucks and get a decent GPU. The 4650 and 4670 seem good for a low price range.

I'm actually not going to be doing any gaming--at all. And if I do, I'll probably get a GPU then. That should be okay until then, though, right?

Also, do you think an eMachine case will work okay with it? And what about OCZ DDR3 1600 RAM? I don't want to spend $90 on a PSU, because of not getting the MIR either.

If you aren't gonna game at all, you'll be fine without it though.

1333 MHz RAM will be fine if you aren't gaming, but yes the OCZ is good.
I'd get whatever's cheapest.

600w PSU will be plenty without a video card, and even with one it should be fine unless you go crazy and get an x2 card or something...

All right.. I'm going to go without it for now. I think that the 1600Mhz RAM got really bad ratings...

I'm checking the compatibility with my mobo right now....

nope. won't work. Okay, I'm going to try to get another stick of RAM.

1) If you find anything under $40 for DDR3 RAM (or closer) Let me know!
I'm ready to buy!

2) Also, do you think that the hard drive that was in the other free computer I got, I could move into the new(er) free one I'm getting tomorrow? Even if it's only like 80GB/160GB... that saves me $50 I could spend on a good PSU.

3) By the way, I'm having a tough time opening the case on the super old Windows 98 computer I got. Should it be that hard? I haven't got it to open yet. Do you think it will be that hard with the eMachine computer??

4) Sorry for all these questions, but are the for-custom-build cases easier to deal with than OEM cases? Thanks!!

1. will do

2. it will be painfully slow but will work.

3. no it will be fine but i have seen some pre-builts come with custom form factors, where mATX wont fit.

4.yes very much. Especially when its a decent case, not a $30 one lol.

Why would RAM be incompatible with your motherboard? Its a 2GB kit... DDR3, thats would work perfectly.

1) Thanks! I don't think that RAM will work, only because it got so many bad ratings and "incompatible" reviews. What do you think? It'll save me a great deal of money if I got that. My parents here in Georgia could drive me. I still have $160.

2) My dad lives in Georgia and I'm with him right now, and he said he could give me a free hard drive and video card and whatever I want from his "old" computers. He upgrades so frequently, I bet those hard drives are SATA and at least 250GB.

3) I think I might use one of my dad's old cases... if not, I will probably just use the one I got. I measured it, and it looks like a 9.6" by 9.6" mobo will fit in that case. I opened it and I'll tell you... it was DUSTY!!! Anyway, I'm having trouble unhooking the PSU cable to the hard drives,... etc. do you just PULL them out?

4) I think I might just ask my dad if I can bring one of his computers as a carry-on. Will they even let that through?? haha.

GUYS! THIS IS WHAT I PULLED TOGETHER (from my supah-cool dad who has "old" ;) 2005 models):

2 DVD Optical Drives - Philips - Looks like this - $45
250 GB Samsung HDD (exact model!) - $39
160 GB Seagate Barracuda HDD (exact model!!) - I don't know why it says it's so much!
Antec Neopower 550 Watt - ~$100?!
Radeon X1950 Pro - $150 what the crap?
Are these good?! Do I have enough power?
Radeon X1900 - $150 what the double crap?!
The only cables I have are 2 wide, super thin cables, and 4 thin, narrow cables... what's for what?? Thanks!!! You guys rock

I really don't see the need for a new psu yet, not until he upgrades the video card...

EDIT: oops, looks like he got one of the best kind, the free kind...

hahaha. Yepp. I got it from my dad. What do you think of this?
