Weird flashing in the middle of my screen. HELP!

I have never heard of this error happening before and was unable to find anything about it through Google. Any help figuring this out would be MUCH appreciated because it's driving me crazy!!!

There is a little block in the middle of my monitor that will keep flashing when I am doing things. If I do nothing it won't flash. It seems to flash the last thing that was in the middle of the screen.

So for example if I start with my desktop and open firefox, the middle of my screen will flash the desktop background. If I scroll down, the squares stay on the page and keep accumulating (if I right click and open a menu over the accumulated boxes they go away. If I change any of my display setting such as resolution it will go away for a little bit and then come back in a few minutes seemingly randomly.

I have tried updating all my drivers to latest versions and it didn't help. I have used NOD32 to scan for viruses and such but it's not picking anything up.
