Water Cooling System For Obsidian Corsair Case

Thanks for that.

Now on to building a new shopping cart on newegg... yay

Oh look stuck already since there are about 8 different versions of a Phenom II x4.

I feel so needy

Performance is the difference, though I don't think it's worth $100. You'd be better off grabbing a 5850 and crossfiring another one later on, when they're much cheaper. The 5850 can max any current game.

Also, A Phenom II most certainly does not beat an i7 in gaming. It doesn't beat the i5 either. The reason they are all so close in the benchmarks is because the CPU isn't the bottleneck on those benches. When games start to require more CPU usage, the Core i5/i7 will easily come out on top. Take a look at the scores on more hardware-intensive games like Far Cry 2. The Core i5 750 is generally 10-15 fps above the Phenom II x4 965. More for the i7 920.

If you throw in overclocking, it's not even a contest...the i5 beats by a mile. With the i7 it gets beat even worse. Hell, in overclocking, even the Core i3 does fairly well against the 955.

Though I have seen benches that show the 955 being better, and I have seen same that say 920 is better.... I guess its because so many factors come into play here.

It depends on the game though.... in many, the phenom can beat a 920 pretty easily.

Also... http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=79635 Note that that is a higher clocked i7 and a lower clocked phenom II.... with DDR2....

OP: get the 955. 965 is a waste of money imo.

I know nothing about water cooling except for the fact that people say the water cooling systems on newegg are crap. Can anyone suggest water cooling system parts for me that's worth it.

Notes
- Getting an i7 920 with ASUS P6X58D Premium motherboard
- Would like to water cool the CPU and maybe graphics card (don't know if I can water cool anything else or if its possible) (is it?)
- Graphics card is a 5970
- I'm building without a budget, but I don't like wasting money
- Want to water cool because of looks and possible lack of airflow where the case will be stored
- Is a 750W PSU enough to run this build along with 2 SSD'S?

Yes it is
you can WC the HDDs, MOSFETs, NB & SB, and ive seen other things WCd also
so yeah
if you put your mind to it you can WC almost everything
i would say with the exception to the optical drives

It isn't necessary though.

You forgot RAM and GPU's lol

I find it quite interesting that the 940 OC beats an i7 here... I have heard that the PII only pulls ahead in 'high end gaming' is that what is meant by that? beats an i7 in a couple other games as well....

I figure when you factor in the 965/955's higher clocks and DDR3 with higher clocks, they'd about equal if not exceed the 940 @3.75GHz.

No difference... idk why its listed twice.

I'd go with the 1200. Its very good and has plenty of room.

For AMD, I'd get M4A79T deluxe or crosshair III formula mobo.

kinda thought so
it was bed time tho
and your right its not necessary
and if you WC a 58XX it has a cold bug
and wont work until you adjust its settings
but there are some people that like to go over the top
and do it anyway :D
