XP Mode in Windows 7?

Has anyone investigated to see if there is actually an XP compatibility mode in Win7 home premium?

i know that if you right click on a program icon and go over to compatibility then you can set a program to run as if it were on any OS thats win98 or newer. i'll check at work tomorrow to see if its on premium

That part was in Vista's Home Premium and to a lesser extent in XP Home so I cant' imagine that being removed from the W7 version of it.

Otherwise there is no XP mode in W7 Home premium. 7 Professional still has a majority of the media stuff (like media center) so if you want that and the XP mode you wouldn't lose any functionality by getting pro.

Thanks for moving the thread Mod.

Well it looks like i'll be getting W7 then.

The app's i'm running are 32 bit. Can I run them in, XP mode, in W7 64 bit?

if you want XP Mode, get Ultimate. Professional has a very close price tag, but lacks some of the cooler features that ultimate has.

my source on this: PC PRO magazine.
Just get Ultimate eh?......I ain't paying $319 for it that's for sure.

How come if I search for Windows 7, all I seem to get is upgrade packages?
Can't you buy it as a standalone, full version?

Ah found it, but wow, £264
