Building my first computer

Thanks for all the advise! I still would like to know what I will notice immediately after I build this high performance computer, I have no Idea, always had cheap Emachines computers that seem to run the games I play just fine. Or should I just build a cheaper computer since all I do with it is play games and surf the web?

Well it depends on what games you play, but you'll be able to crank most of them up to maximum settings and not have any video lag or slowdown at all.

Right now I am playing modern warfare 2, I dont notice any video lag, and I clicked the optimize settings tab. I dont want to spend $1500 and not notice anything different, thats my concern.

When you click the "optimize settings" tab on the new system, the settings will probably max out. You'll probably be running at the maximum resolution that your monitor supports, with very high detail textures and models, as well as anti-aliasing. It'll look awesome. You also shouldn't notice ANY slowdown during gameplay unless it's network lag.

edit: let me put it this way:
Crysis on low: (close to what you've probably got now)

Crysis on max: (you'll be able to max it)

open the links in tabs and switch back and forth between them. See the difference now?

When you hit optimize on your current system, it's probably medium to low settings all across the board. It may look good as I thought Crysis looked awesome on medium. Then I got a better graphics card and I can play on even higher settings and it looks amazing. Trust me, you will notice immediately. If you don't, you are blind.
