I have this really old JVC reciever, model RX-554V that my dad gave me when we got our onkyo. It's currently hooked up to three POS RCA 3 inch speakers and two old sony stereo speakers in the back, which work but I cannot get them loud enough.

I was thinking maybe I'll get two new front speakers and a center, and I'll put two of the RCA's in the rear.

Anyway I need them to be fairly cheap, they only need to handle 40 watts each for now.

Thanks.

If you have got the JVC reciever I would pair it with some nice JVC speakers. If you are looking fairly cheap there are two directions that you can go. Either you can get some used ones that may be a hassle or new ones that are not very good. If you reply to this tell me what you are looking for and I can give you some recommendations.

To be honest im not sure if you'd be able to get some decent speakers for Under $100. You might just have to settle with a nice set of PC Speakers such as the Logitech X540's.

Ya if you are looking under $100 you will want just some computer speakers. No way can you be an audiophile on that kind of budget. I was suggesting the JVC if you were looking at used speakers because anything before 2004 are good speakers in my opinion.

Im Not too sure,it'd be best to ask J About speakers (01001010).

But as far as the Logitech X540's go,they sound quote good (Speaking from Experience)

These look really nice.

Hmmm.... $105 isn't bad.

EDIT: Does anyone know anything about cambridge soundworks?
This is an epic deal if theyre any good. http://cambridgesoundworks.com/store/category.cgi?category=spk_frontmain&item=53CW0025AA001

Cnet reviews said theyre awesome, but I don't trust CNET much anymore.

One more question: front- or down-firing subwoofer?
It looks like mine isnt gonna be fixable.
