CPU cooler question

I'm planning to buy this CPU cooler after reading a bunch of reviews on it but after looking at the pictures i noticed a little cross piece that im assuming goes on the back of my motherboard. my motherboard already has a metal backplate behind my cpu socket. will i be able to install the CPU cooler anyways?

You should be able to remove the backplate from your motherboard, I've never herd of one where you can't.

The article looks intresting , i am fed up with the noise that my cpu does. i am really looking for this option
