Useless Machine; I want one

I agree. While it may useless, it would also be a bunch of fun. especially if you could devise a way to make it go automatically.

Like build it with another side, with a two second delay.
So when you turn it on, one side turns the switch on, waits two seconds
(so the arm goes fully down), then the other arm goes, etc.

I don't know if I actually want to build one. Just thought it was a really stupidly cool video and some might like it.
 
Vampist and 63083, that's genius. Now if only you could make it work perpetually... You'd be rich. Magnets could do it, but friction and wear and tear would make it impossible..

yeah, I think wouldnt be that hard to do if you had a 5v dpdt relay and few capacitors it should be easy

That's sort of what I was thinking about. I just couldn't figure out how to put it into words.
 
It'd be a good little stress release in my opinion, put it on a 5v circuit and hook it up on USB.
