There's a family member of mine who somehow always seems to bring their computer to it's knees, Viruses, you name it, It has it.

Here's the problem, When I go to do a factory hard format with the recovery CD's it won't even complete 2%, without popping up "X text file can not be recovered". I hit retry, Boom, Pops back up again. What other options do I have to get this Piece of sh*t recovered? Running windows XP, and just a pain in my ass.

Is something on the drive corrupted thats prevented it?

Help! Please

Sounds like it is toast now. I had a similar problem with a HP desktop. The OS became corrupt to the point that i couldn't Even get into recovery mode. I ordered recovery cd's from HP for $15 and they were even more corrupt than my original problem. I ended up doing a clean install from a windows disc that I had lying around. Worked fine after that till the mobo crapped on me.

So you are trying to wipe the HDD and reinstall, right?

Have you run a hard drive diagnostic? Have you tried a different O/S disc?

It's possible the the CDs are dirty. Take a lint-free cloth and some eye-glass cleaner and see if that helps. Then I'd try a different disk (if you have one)
