wireless windwos 7 help

hey guys i got a edimax wireless card with windows 7 x64... i installed the card... tried their drivers and didnt seem to work well.. the card seemed to perform worse.. so i uninstalled their drivers and left the windows drivers on there.. anyway my real problem is i cant figure out how to disable rate adaptive option in advanced settings.. i have a usb wireless and it has the option but this card does not... is there someway in windows to disable it besides that place? and also i checked the drivers and downloaded the latest ones and they DIDNT have the option to disable rate adaptive... if i disable it it will prevent lag spikes in game when it changes... and it will get better signal..
