Benchtest is a pretty common term actually.. we do it at work frequently to check motherboards.

You just have the essentials. Motherboard, ram, CPU and PSU. It helps eliminate any other possible issues and brings you down to the guts.

So, #1 I understand. But #2 is a slap in the face, IMO.
