What would be the best method of recovering a downed HD?

Well as some of you know....recently I've taken apart my comp because I believed it was over due on some major dusting...believing that this was the cause of my systems initial failure...it was not.

It turns out that it wasn't my GPU but my HD and my MOBO that took a dump : /..

But of course I can care less about the two year tech in my rig...I"m more concerned about recovering the data from my Western Digitial HD...so what's the best method of recovering my music and other essential files?

Thanks....Richie

That would explain a lot. You have to reinstall the OS everytime you take a HDD to a different computer. The drivers don't match up.

Your hard drive seems to be working though.

What you'll need to do is set the drive as a slave, so hooking it up to a secondary hard drive running Windows on another machine, and low and behold; you should be able to get the data off it :)
