Is it ok to replace a power supply with one of a different wattage?

If your power supply goes bad, and say it's a 250W power supply, do you have to replace it with one with the same wattage, like say one that's 350W, or do you have to use one with the same exact wattage?

sometimes you need a bigger Wattage because you dont have enough to power everything you have, so its fine to upgrade.

As long as it's the same wattage or above, you're fine. More is generally better/safer.

As long as its above the required wattage for your system it will work. Having one with higher wattage will leave room for future upgrades too.

No offense to you, but that's what a lot of people think. Most people who are new to building, buy cheap, high wattage power supplies.
