Im trying to decided what card should I get?

I am not a hardcore Crysis gamer who need all the AA/AF maxed out ...etc.

As of right now I play WoW/MW2 on two 24" 1920 x 1200 monitors using 9800GTX.

I did notice with MW2 my PC starts to lag when there is a lot of smoke...etc

For the past month I been monitoring newegg/zipzoonfly for a chance to get 5870 but no luck... recently 5970 got released and after seeing some benchmarks 5970 outperforms 5870 by 20/40 fps in most games, but its also about $200 more. I have $400 set aside for 5870 and im trying to decided if maybe I should go with the 5970?

What you guys think?

well if you didnt already know 5970 is just 2 5870 with a few changes... its just not called an x2 like previous ati cards.. but if you want to wait and just crossfire 2 5870 and it will be as good or better than 5970...

honestly, if you really need the power, just get the 5970, and be sure ur PSU can power it right.

and ud be way ahead if you do this due to the ability to crossfire the 5970 later down the road, and basically be using quadfire 5870's lol.

2x HD 5870 = ~$800

1x HD 5970 = ~$600

Yes, it would be just as good, but it would also be significantly more expensive.

On a hardware level, HD 5970 = 2x HD 5870.

The HD 5870 is clocked at 850MHz/4800MHz
The HD 5970 is clocked at 725MHz/4000MHz due to power limitations. Since they knew a few people would be disappointed, AMD completely removed the CCC OC limitations for the HD 5970 so it can easily clock up to HD 5870 speeds and beyond. You'll have no problems with power if you have PCI-E 2.0 which can deliver twice the power compared to PCI-E 1.0

Thanks for the input guys.

I never had the experience with a duel vid card. From what I heard in the past some games do not take the full advantage if it, it that true? To be more specific will WoW and MW2 take full advantage of 5970?

Since WoW and MW2 are the only main games im playing will i see a big difference between the two cards? I always wanted a SSD and If I save $200 by getting 5870 i think its very likely I will get one. :)

But on the other hand that card is a beast and I dont think I will need to be afraid to use the word futureproof if I get iit.

Its a hard decision.

any 58xx card will max basicly any game but crysis.

so its not like it will bottleneck ur gaming experience.

the 5970 is cheeper alternative to crossfiring 2 5870s later on..

WoW has good dual-GPU driver support, but even with 1x HD 5870 you'll max WoW through the roofs, so it won't matter if its utilizing a HD 5890 fully.
