Ok guys, This may sound like a noobish question but, I have a compaq CQ50 that has a sluggish processor in it, its a 2.0 Ghz. The rest of the system is fine as far as graphics and RAM. My question is when I run CPU z it tells me the socket is a P (478 ) In theory the pins should line up with my older 478 processors right? If so can I take one of my old desktop or laptop CPU's for that matter and put them in this computer and they run fine? If not where is the ceapest place to get a Socket P processor. And Finally does my computer support a grapics card upgrade. Thanks for the help I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

You can put other S478 CPU's in as long as it has a supported architecture and front side bus. I don't think desktop S478's are compatible with the mobile 478's. Also , since CQ50 shows up as a presario lappy, I would just assume you can't upgrade the GPU. Most lappys have soldered on GPU's and can't be upgraded.
