Remove File Permisions

Right i recently bought a HD caddie to fit my old HD so i can use it as external HD, i found some old pictures i would like to keep but the bloody computer just wont let me!! ive tryed changing the permission of the folder through the secuirty tab and its still saying access is denied!! Why cant this be simpler!! im running Vista 32-bit Home Premium. The old hardrive in the caddie is from a windows XP proffesional computer.

has anyone else encountered this problem? and do you have any ideas on how to regain the security to get the files?

Try taking ownership of the folder. In the Security tab, look for Advanced options and you should be able to find "Owner" or "Ownership" settings.
