Ok. so Obama's health-care legilslation passed.

I just gotta make a small point... We always argue how Obama is trying to make our system socialist, and we are not a socialist country... Let me just point out a couple socialist things though...

Social Security
Unemployment
School Systems
Medicare

Just to name a few big things. Yes, I think this health reform is good. But I am probably biased by diabetes. I can and will be screwed by insurance companies if something isn't done.

Face it, we need the government to control some aspects of society. Just look at the unregulated meat packing industry in the early 1900's. Anyone who knows anything about history knows how that turned out for consumers.

Have you ever read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" It's a terribly vivid interpretation of corruption in the meat packing industry as well as the fire fighting industry and others. 01001010 is right that some aspects of society do need to b controlled, but in my opinion, it just needs to be the basics such as the court system, the FDA (although needs MAJOR modification), and city services.

Health care should be one of the basics. Think of it like this - we already pay for uninsured emergency room visits. Why not nip it at the root and pay for doctor's visits? Something that's both cheaper for us and healthier for the patient in question.

msg, aspartame, and countless other harmful chemicals are used in your processed foods, basically making you sick. on top of that heres a bit of info i think people should know.
A}the food industry DOES NOT need to report to the f.d.a. if they find harmful bacteria in the meats they are goin to sell you. they simply need to cook the meat and package it in a different way.
B}even if they did need to report an issue it wouldnt matter, because the f.d.a is not a government managed administration. ask the fda whos job it is to make sure the food is safe and they will tell you the manufacturer, but ask the manufacturer the same question and they will say its the fdas job. this is simply a loop hole for them to bounce back and forth behind.

floridation: you may not know this but for over 60 years they have pumped floride into major metropolis' drinking water, claiming that it is for the benefit of dental health. well...Hitler originated this idea as a form of mind control. id say think about it but chances are you may be holding a glass of tap in your hand right now.
Just a couple points he made to fix actual health problems.

Wouldnt you consider Health care to be one of the basics along with things like education and policing

As for the court system well i believe the exact opposite is in fact the case and should be the case with the constitutional doctrine of seperation of powers being in effect the court system is and in my opinion should be seperate from both legislature and executive control as the whole position of the court system is to independantly apply the law of the land without influence by the executive or legislature which is for example why superior judges have security of tenure

Anyway all that asside i am not commenting on the health care situation much as i would like someone first to explain to me what is so objectionable about this situation because from what i have read i cant find anything objectionable in the policies

I agree. I just think he really is not going as far as he needs to with this system. Its like he making an attempt at a partial solution so that if the final one doesn't pass there is at least some "Change" and he'll stand a chance at reelection time. I'm paying for medicare and medicaid that I'll probably never see unless this system is fixed. Why don't I just pay a touch more and have my butt covered as well?

The ONLY thing I see against this system is our government is incredibly inefficient at some things. Its been a month since I got a paper to them and I have yet to receive the document I need in return. I hope all the health care it done on the doctor's end so that people just have to take care of themselves, and not worry about the health care billing crap.
