What kinda hardware does a computer have to have before you can Install Windows 7? I dont want to buy a new computer, but I have a couple that I would like to install it on.
If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
*1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
*1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
*16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
* DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
...bear in mind though that those are the absolute minimum requirements. If you want it to run nice and smoothly, I'd personally recommend 2GB of RAM and a processor that's got a lot more poke in it than they recommend. Any of the dual core / quad varieties will definitely be fine, but if it's an old single core I'd recommend far more around the 3Ghz mark (or equivalent). No way are you going to catch me running 7 on an old 1Ghz Pentium III!
