Personally, I'd get a 1000HX. Unless you really plan on doing dual 5970's, RAID with 6 drives, top of the line Intel or AMD proc, 8/12Gb of RAM, etc. 1200 watts is alot.

In answer to your question. I've heard Xion makes good stuff, but I wouldn't trust a 6 rail system with varied amperage.

The 1000HX has dual rails and dual transformers. Each at 40 amps. Plus it's modular :D

I'd go for cooler master for that bit more efficiency and power. Although 1200+ watt is alot, but I see that you might need them for 2 hd5970 when they get here.

ya, thats what i was thinking with the multi rails...

but this is a project thats a long ways off...

what id like is...

something like this...

(i honestly didnt think it would cost this much to go 'top of the line' lol)

and this is without the 2 5970s which together will probably be about 1200$

Total = ~1850$

plus estimation for dual 5970s

~ 1200

total
~3050$ guesstimate

If anyone knows a better part for performance, please post.

yes i know thats basically a waste, but hey, i love performance even if you wolnt use it or need it on a normal day.

That PC would be update enough for at least 1o years id say

i already have
a monitor,
1200
V8
Keyboard/mouse

so this is basically just the insides.

EDIT:
I dont think that RAM and MOBO will work well together?
ideas?

RAMPAGE II review... *drool*

Here is a very good link for PSU.

This is a MOBO I would suggest. Its cheaper and just as good.

Lots and lots of great reviews!!! If u do decide to go with it, get this RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231225
Its on the manufacturing list for p6t and it will not let u down.

And i7 920 is the way to go. I really dont know why u want to spend extra $300 on CPU..... so pointless.

I had never managed to get a successful OC before upgrading to the suggested parts above. From 2.6Ghz I was able to get 4.0Ghz 24/7 in one day, so easy even a cave man can do it.

Good choice on the paste. Here is a vid u might find interesting and educational. I have the same paste by the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12ce9FpKO3I

What CPU Cooler are u going with? If you want the best then go for "Prolimatech Mega Shadow Deluxe" I did a lot of reserach and its the best.

thanks for the suggestions,

but my HSF will be the Cooler Master V8 that i am currently using on my Phenom 940BE

now, the 920 is Quad core right?
um a noob when it comes to Intel stuff
lol! nm...guess i can just look at tis specs first lmao

hmm...does that board support Crossfire/SLI?

Yes it is, Its like the most popular CPU right now.

Also I updated my post, if u missed it, here is a link for the PSU's
http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx

nice link, very helpfull
i think i'll bookmark that for later lol

but i am guessing this will be around 2700-3100$

and i'll update this as time goes by till i am able to afford this stuff

and for the video cards for now i put it as (4) 5870s in place for the (2) 5970s as a place holder, which made the cards about 1500 bucks for 4, which i think is a bit high of an estimation for the (2) 5970s

but hey, its better to have an idea then nothing at all.

This is just my opinion but I think having two 5970's is just an overkill. I mean don't get me wrong, if u have a lot of extra cash then go for it, but $1500 is a lot of money just for vid card's. What games are u planing on playing and on what size monitor?

Ya know for about the same performance and half the price you could go with AMD. But its all personal preference in the end i guess. also, good choice on going with an ASUS board though :D
