Win 7 + MSi = BSOD

Hi everyone. See if you all can help me figure out what's going on here...

I put Win 7 RC on a neighbor's MSi laptop. All went as planned with the install. Got it up and running fine. When we downloaded a driver for the ATI video card, everything went to hell in a hand basket.

Now, when you boot up, you get a black screen with a cursor. Boot into safe mode to get the same result with a slightly larger, lower resolution cursor...lol

I thought "wow...that's kinda weird but no prob, I'll bust out my old XP disk and reistall with that for now".

Boot to the disk, setup initializes and, right when the GUI installer is supposed to start up, I get a BSOD saying something about "check hard drive for corruption or a virus...etc"

I highly doubt this has anything to do with a virus since I don't know of any type of virus that could do anything to stop a fresh install...but...I'm officially lost.

Anyone have anything else to try to get this thing up and running again?

why don't you just go back to useing the MS driver instead of the ATI driver?
