It's usually pronounced Rau-Ter.
Say Louder, then rhyme it with Router. (Except replace the "d" with a "t".

I pronounce it "Rooter" although I think the dictionary would suggest "Rowter".

^ So what you're saying is that it's pronounced the same as ROTOR as in the ROTORS in a car?

The way I've always heard it pronounced it rhymes with "cow turd".

It has two pronunciations just like the word "route". The only difference is that you add an 'r' sound at the end.

I'm a rooter, as a rhyme with computer, kind of person myself but i don't correct people who say rowter, although where i come from the pronunciation of router as rowter means a hand operated power tool with a rotary cutting tool on the end
