So i recently reloaded WinXP Pro to my moms new system and im not able to get into the older user files. for example, i go into C:\Documents and Settings and try to click on one of the older user folders and i get this:

Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\JAMIE is not accesible.

Access is denied.

does anyone know how to fix this or am i not gonna be able to fix it?

Try logging in as a local admin and go into the Security tab for the folder you need access to and try to "Take Ownership" of the folder.

Sorry this took so damn long to reply to but how exactly do i log in as the local admin? theres only one user account on this machine. and when i do, how do i "Take ownership"?

Just login then (it is most likely a local admin). Right-click on the folder you want ownership of>Properties>Security Tab>Advanced button>Owner tab>click on the username you want to make the 'owner'>'check' the box 'replace owner on container and objects'>Ok button.

Let us know if that works.
