Okay, so I'm buying a new laptop to replace my current desktop.

But now I have an idea, I'm thinking I may as well upgrade the desktop too and want to do it myself to have a bit of fun and learn.

So need your help in selecting components. Firstly I'll list what I have (it's a little old, and I have upgraded it a little over time e.g. when psu died, cpu fan died):

OCZ 600W GameXStream SLI Ready PSU
Athlon FX-53 2.4Ghz CPU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 PRO PWM Fan (Socket 754, 939, 940, AM2)
Netgear WG311T 108Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter
2gb Ram
512mb Radeon X1950 Pro
Asus A8v deluxe motherboard
200gb hdd

Want to spend absolute minimum on this upgrade, so need to use as much of what i already have, so am thinkingto buy:

a cheap m'board, cpu & ram.

What would be a good combination of cpu and m'board that would be able to run current applications. Uses currently are internet, some gaming (this is where this pc is showing signs of age although still does an ok job), movies.

Budget is £150.

All suggestions welcome!! Thanks!

What about this:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz 1333FSB (Retail 775)
OCZ 4GB PC2-8500 DDR2 Platinum (2x2GB)
Asus P5QL/EPU, Intel P43 Chipset, DDR2, LGA775

All of that comes to around £205 (okay above my initial budget). And am thinking that would leave me open to an upgrade on teh graphics card if needed in the future.

Would that be considered a decent system?

Any ideas for something cheaper or any tweaking to this? Thanks.
