your really gonna spend 1000 bucks on a CPU??? dude you must have been saving for a while! :p

on a more serious note, i think you have a good setup. i recommend getting the case from newegg, they have it for 139.99 ;)

You won't get the 975 to clock any higher on air than the 920, just go with that and save $750.

1+ (but I gotta spread)

The 975 is pointless unless your going to do extreme OC'ing and/or slot it into a Classified or Supercomputer motherboard.

And even then the 920 probably wouldn't be far behind under the same conditions. Nor will you see any benefits from the extra QPI speed of the 975 unless your running some very, very heavy processing. 920 @ 4.8GT/s - 975 @ 6.4GT/s

With the money you save build yourself a Phenom II rig as well.

Personal opinion, but I would also lay off the 975, so now you have $750 more...
Then just get a SSD like this Sure you only save $620 but you were planning on losing that money, so now you saved a whole bunch, and you got an SSD for operating system and programs!

i say the 920 as well, and u can get really good overclocks with it.
or if u wanted amd, geta 965, there pretty bas ass.

nice GPU :)

i've heard that the 975 is much much easier to overclock than the 920 due to the unlocked multiplier, also i dont think its worth spending 100+ dollars getting an ssd so i can shave a few seconds off my boot time.
i could use the money for a new desk though

what about the 950?

also do you think that RAM will do well?

i guess i could also use the extra to get some cold cathodes, and some red LED fans for the HAF

Good call on Corsair^^^

i dont think i would spend much on an ssd either, simply because you dont get nearly as much drive space as an HDD. plus their supposed to be super silent because theres no moving parts. Im personally gonna wait until the price comes down before i check one out.

And about the desk, thats a good idea. just think of how it will suit you in the long run. you could think this system is outdated and build a new one in a year with how fast technology is growing these days (heck, im using a socket 462 Athlon XP) but a desk will last you a good while if you find a good one.

I would ditch the LGA1366 and get the LGA1156. The Core i7 860 (870 if you want to spend twice as much on a processor for 133Mhz) will destroy any other processor out there. Intel's turbo boost is working wonders.
