The quad core will perform equally, if not slower to the dual core. Either route is going to last you a very long time before you have to upgrade.

No, I don't, it's the same CPU. He was asking which CPU, not saying he had to buy the one from TigerDirect.


And I was tired and misread the speeds of each, go with the Dual Core.

It's stock clocked at 0.5GHz higher than the Quad.

It will be used for basic computing, internet and email.

As Rohan stated, he won't be using it for anything that will utilize 4 cores.

If I hadn't misread and thought the QC option had a higher clock, I would've never recommended it.

The DC being at 0.5 GHz higher (stock) than the QC will give him more of an increase in performance.

Go with the Phenom. Although it is a dual core, there is a chance that you will be able to unlock the other two cores if you have a motherboard with SB710/SB750 southbridge (Which that mobo does). It will also perform better in single threaded apps.

Did you even consider the shipping? Think before you say something.

If you spent another $0.01, then the Quad would be $0.01 cheaper, INCLUDING shipping.
