Outlook Express will not start

I have a strange problem with Outlook Express. I am assisting someone with Outllok Express,they siad after doing a Windows update Outlook Express will not start.
I checked the pc and when I click on the icon or on msimn.exe all that happens is I hear a 'ping' sound ..nothing else ..no error message.. nothing. I've uninstalling and reinstall Internet Explorere 8 several times no luck...I did a file scan (sfc /scannow) , virus scan as well as made changes to the registry..still no resolution to the problem. The only thing I cn thing of is to reinstall Windows (XP Home Edition )

Does anyone has any suggestions ?

does it show running in task manager? maybe you should reinstalled outlook first not XP

Thanks .I will try that. I thought Outlook was installed with Internet Explorer...But now I know better

So did you get this fixed. I'm sure you can uninstall/reinstall just Outlook Express.
