Okay so my new PC doesnt come with restore CD's (very unhelpful)

I am 99.9999% sure that the Operating system windows vista isnt permanently on the hard drive if i click "restore to factory settings"

Okay so im making a backup image on the 2nd hard drive, and il be making a backup image onto DVD's as well.

My question is when i make this backup images are they imaging what my PC is like NOW(programs ive added this morning like forefox, skype etc, or factory settings?

The software program (acer e management) suggests factory settings only...

Can someone please confirm or add anything towards this?

My PC is an aspire x1700 if that helps.

The reason i got it in the first place was because my old ones restore CD's didnt work no more, id hate to make the same kind of mistake lol.

Also will these restore CD's reinstall vista?? Or is that not the case?

I have no experience with your particular model, but "restore to factory settings" on virtually every other PC i have heard of does a format of the hard drive and reinstalls the operating system (along with a boatload of useless trial version apps).

same, I dont think it would get rid of your OS because than there is no loader. Only formatting or uninstalling the OS will get rid of it. Or so I am thinking that lol
