ATI 4870/4890 still worth it?

I'm still waiting for game visuals to catch up with old per-rendered films. Even the latest cards couldn't push Toy Story 1's visuals, and they're pretty basic in terms of pre-rendered films of nowadays.

Yeah that'd be pretty nice;

Back on topic tho; about how much do you think the 5800s will drive down the price of the 4800s?

Everything I can find says along the lines of:

The cards will be launched in September and will be available in October, around the same time as Windows 7 launch.

So I might just grab a 4870 or 4890 for now (dont feel like waiting 2 months for the 5800s to actually hit the market), then sell it and pick up a 5870 after its price goes down a bit; after all a 4890 can run any current game with ease anyway; no need to pick p a HD 5870 X4 when it spits on every current game :p

Back on topic? Its my topic :p

I have no idea. They will surely drop. Look at the 3000 series to guess how much they'll drop I guess.
The 4000 series will begin to be the normal for a budget market.

Yeah, that'd sure last you a good while :)

Yeah; I was gonna hold out for the 5800s but meh; I won't really need one, lol.

That 4890 should do well for quite some time, and if there comes a point I need more I could just run multiple cards; or resell the 4890 for something bigger.
