Hey, i have a 100 gb hard drive and its partioned with one part 85 gb.Which i save all my files in and 15 gb partion for the os. I want to instal windows 7, but it says i need 16gb free. And i dont want to have to wipe my partion with files to make room for windows , will i be okay installing it on the 15gb or will i have wipe the other partion?

If you grab a live linux distro with the appropriate tools (think the Ubuntu live cd even has it on these days) you can use "ntfsresize" to shrink the data partition. I'd give windows about 20GB personally or a bit more, just so it's got some form of overhead to work in.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when you re-size you can loose some data in certain sectors of each partition?

As long as you're not trying to shrink it by more space than you've got left, you should be fine.
