Did you buy the integrated graphics laptop or the one with the option of removable GPU. I read other people that see their 1720's GPU is removable but they said there was a 1720 with a removable GPU and one without. The majority of laptops cannot have the GPU changed. However, there are a select few.

I've done some searching I cant really find anything relevant to what I want to do

Unfortunately, I found I had the same difficulty finding a valid article about this laptop and what sort of GPU socket it uses. I would suggest calling Dell. Or Nvidia as they would know what their mobile GPU's socket is and what you would be able to upgrade to.
